Hager Switzerland has been conducting factory tours for its customers and interested parties with great success since 2014. The tours are accompanied by experienced employees and individually tailored to the individual groups. One or more factory tours are carried out almost every day. Until now, these have been very «classic» and not standardized. The aim of the new factory tour was to create an experience for visitors; it should be more digital and standardized, but still offer as much flexibility as possible. The concept for the new factory tour was developed by Studio Thom Pfister and implemented together with external partners. The heart of the concept is the production films and the new technical infrastructure. Screens were installed at the 11 most important production stations on which the respective production step can be played as a film. The factory manager controls the recording of the films using a tablet. What sounds so simple was technically an exciting challenge, as not only did the screens have to be controlled via a tablet, but an easy-to-use GUI also had to be developed and the playout of the films had to be programmed. The factory tours are carried out in German, French, English or Italian and therefore a total of 44 different film variants were created, which must be played correctly. The digitalized factory tour is rounded off by new signage that helps visitors find their way around the different buildings and floors.
